Irwin Melnicoff, P.E., interpreted, amended, wrote and enforced the South Florida Building Code, as a member of the Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals for six consecutive years.  He is knowledgeable about construction, major building codes, and standards. He has successfully completed many engineering assignments and has served as an expert witness on many occasions.  He has designed, built, and inspected several thousand structures, buildings, houses, industrial plants, and commercial establishments.

 PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES AND COMMUNITY SERVICE
Former six year (two term) (Dec. 1983-1990) commissioner appointed member of the Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals. The Board publishes, enforces, interprets, amends, and revises the South Florida Building Code, certifies building and fire officials and inspectors, controls construction of buildings and structures, and determines suitability of alternative materials or methods. Service on fire, swimming pool, mechanical, and smoke control committees.

 EDUCATION
New York University- Bachelor of Science Engineering Degree with course works in structural, mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering.

Certificate of Military Science New York University ROTC with course work in civil engineering, roads, airfields, bridges, and drainage.

Newark college of Engineering with graduate level courses in structural and mechanical engineering.

Rutgers University with graduate level course in structural and mechanical engineering and professional engineers review classes in general engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, and mechanical engineering.
